Notes: Option packages were also made available to boost power to the rest of the 911 range.
A reconfiguration of cylinder heads, manifolds, and engine management software in
the 3.6L boxer-six engine gave a horsepower boost to 345 from 320 in the
X51 option package ($13,990); the extra power was all in the upper rpm band.
The X50 package ($17,880) for the Turbo models increased power to 444hp by means
of greater boost pressure, as well as a revised control unit. Essentially,
this provided GT2 power with all-wheel drive and the option of the
Tiptronic transmission. A CD player was added as standard equipment.
