The Plus 8 has been sold in the United States since the 1970s, but
American emissions regulations (and Morgan's unwillingness to meet them)
meant that the company's US distributors had to convert the cars to
federal spec, sometimes using propane-fueled engines. As of 2002, Morgan
federalized the Plus 8 in the factory, thus making it a factory production
model for the purposes of these web pages.
