Notes: A lot can change in a decade; just ask any politician. Or you could ask Maserati, since they had't ventured into the US market since 1991. Mis-managed, and stocked with uninspiring Volvo-esque boxy sedans, the company withdrew to European shores, still faltering. Ferrari, under the Fiat banner, eventually bought its former rival, and injected it with verve and capital. Under Ferrari's guidance, Maserati's 3200GT, with its peaky twin-turbocharged engine, was revised into its present form, with a smooth V8 sharing some design elements with the powerplant of Ferrari's 360 Modena. Thus equipped, the Coupe and Spyder returned to US shores, and, thanks to the disappearance of Alfa Romeo, represented the cheapest Italian car on US soil. The car itself is equipped with either a traditional manual or a sequential gearbox. It represents one of the most direct challengers of the Porsche 911. The company's return to the US seems to have begun on the right foot. The car is sold through Ferrari dealerships.
