Lotus Exige Overview
The Exige first was developed in 2000, as a variant of the
Elise roadster. However, it was the modified second version
(with the 1.8L Toyota engine), sometimes called the Exige S2,
that finally made it to American shores in 2006. This marked
the first time since 1992 that Lotus had two models in its
North American lineup. Essentially a standard Elise with
a roof, fewer amenities, and a stiffer suspension and
chassis, the Exige was really a track-day car, and thus
was sold in lower volumes than its Elise counterpart.
