Bugatti EB 16.4 Veyron Overview
The Bugatti Veyron came to the United States for the 2006
model year, after a long and troubled gestation. It was
the first production car sold in America to exceed
a thousand horsepower, the first car to exceed 250 miles
per hour, and the first car to exceed a million-dollar
price tag. In fact, its starting price was more than double
that of its nearest competitor. It was the first car
bearing the Bugatti name to be formally sold in the United
States since World War II. While the Veyron was not a
profitable car, it did wonders in restoring the image and
prestige of the marque. Officially recognized as the fastest
car in the world, only about 70 Veyrons were completed every
year, with at least half of total production meant for
America. All Veyrons were built at the company's factory
in Molsheim, France.
