Notes: Although the new E60 5-Series had been expected for 2003, it
did not appear until the '04 model year, leaving the old E39 series to
carry on for one last season, its seventh in a very competitive field.
The notable change was the standard Sport Package for the 540i manual
sedan. With 18-inch tires, a sportier suspension, and a 12-way power front
seat, this was the bargain-basement M5. This was the last year for the
E39 M5 as well; the E60 M5 would not debut until the '06 model year.
