Notes: The most exciting news for 2002 was the introduction of the sequential manual gearbox as an option on the M3. This system allows manual shifting via a column or shift paddles, all without using the clutch. Like several similar systems, it also allows a fully-automatic mode, but is primarily meant for use as a manual. Sedans and wagons also receive a limited face-lift to the front fascia, differentiating them from the coupe and convertible models in anticipation of their separation into the 4-Series..
