Notes: The portly GT from Aston Martin continued into its second
model year without notable change. Explicity targeting Ferrari, Aston Martin marketed the
Vanquish as the consummately British grand tourer, with the weight and
veneer to match. Though somewhat softer than the Maranello, Aston's
V12 supercar represented a viable alternative to the Italian exotic.
The Vanquish (in invisible paint trim) starred in the
latest James Bond thriller, Die Another Day. The movie was a
superb PR exercise for Aston Martin, and indeed for Ford in general.
